Kavaratti: The Department Related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Paper Laid on the Table of Rajya Sabha visiting Agatti and Kavaratti islands from 23rd to 25th February, 2012. The committee consist of Rajya Sabha MPs and officers/officials from Rajya Sabha Secretariat.
During the visit the Parliamentary Committee conducted meetings with the representatives of Lakshadweep Building Development Board (LBDB), Lakshadweep Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan State Mission Authority and Lakshadweep Development Corporation Limited (LDCL). Then Rajya Sabha MPs visited the important places like Science & Technology Planetarium and Museum, Desalination Plant, Fisheries Museum etc.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee led by Shri Tariq Anwer, MP (Rajya Sabha). The other members are Shri Vijya Kumar Rupani MP, Smt. Gundu Sudharani MP, Dr Barun Mukerji MP, Dr. E.M. Susharsana Natichiappan MP, Dr Vijaylaxmi Sadhoo MP.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee will leave from Agatti island for Kochi by Air India flight.
