Home Minister's Advisory Committee (HMAC) meeting held at New Delhi

Home Minister's Advisory Committee (HMAC) meeting held under the chairmanship of Shri P.Chidambaram, Honourable Home Minister, Govt. of India on 23.04.2012 at New Delhi. Shri.Hamdullah Sayeed, Honourable Member of Parliament, Administrator Shri Amarnath, Shri Jaludheen Koya, President cum Chief Councilor, Shri Ponnikkam Shaik Koya President LTCC and DP Memebr, Shri Muthukoya, VPCC, Shri Abdul Hayath DP Member, Smt. Umaiban DP Member, Smt Kadeejomma, DP member, Shri VM Shamsudheen, Smt Sunidha Ismail were attended the meeting. In addition various ministries officials and UT Administration officials also attended the meeting.  The discussion with Home Minister was very fruitful and great boon for in the development of Lakshadweep.  The follwing issues were discussed in the meeting.

1)Construction of Airport at Androth island

2) Androth island to be declared as transport hub for storage of ration commodities

3) Release of sufficient fund to MNREGA

4) Construction of Eastern Side Jetty in remaining islands

5) Compensatory Pay to Fire Force personnel's at par with Police Personnel

6)Converting IRBn to State Armed Force

7) Request the Home Ministry to enhance the upper age limit prescribed for Group B and C posts for direct recruitment under Lakshadweep Administration to 18-35 years in normal case and further 5 years to be given to the Scheduled Tribe candidates belonging to Lakshadweep

8) Effective measures may be taken for:

     i) Sea Shore belt protection adopting promising mangrove/littoral vegetation

    ii) Control of mealibugs and scale insects in coconut and intercrop fields.

9) The administration extend permission to innovative tourism projects like Home Packages, Hut Operations etc in private sector

10) Local islanders may be allowed to visit all islands in the Territorry without showing any ID Cards

11) Compensatory allowance to Fishermen during lapse/lean period of catch

12)Increse in land compensation rate

13) The area of 12 Km south of Minicoy to 12 Km North of chetlat be decared as Territorrial waters of Lakshadweep

14)Removal of wrecked barge at Kavaratti

15) Shifting LDCL Shipping Corporation wing from Kochi to Androth island

16) Advance action to chalk out the programme of Ships and Barges in future

17) Protection from sea erosion at Anachal and Sandi Beach area at Kavaratti

18) Enhancing salaries of Lakshadweep Police personnels working at Agatti Airport par with CISF personnel salary

19) Upgradation of PHC to CHC at Kadmath

20) Development of Valiyapani and Cheriyapani reefs and aid to fishermen to construct Tuna Fish (Mass) processing platform. Arranging drinking water and oil during fihing season etc

21)Upgradtion of CHC at Androth

22) Construction of 3rd phase of Break Water at Androth

23) Creation of permanent post of teachers.
